What are exosomes?

Exosomes are natural and non-invasive and are the next generation of regenerative treatments. Unlike some other aesthetic treatments that involve synthetic chemicals or invasive procedures, exosome therapy harnesses the body’s natural healing mechanisms. They’re naturally produced by almost all cells in the body. Unlike stem cells themselves, exosomes are cell-free but contain the same regenerative power. They are tiny, naturally occurring vesicles released by stem cells. Exosomes carry powerful signals — including growth factors, peptides, and anti-inflammatory molecules — that tell your cells to repair, regenerate, and restore.

Used in combination with microneedling, Exosomes penetrate deeply into the skin or scalp, enhancing the results of both treatments and accelerating healing.

Exosomes are small vesicles nano-sized bubbles, that act like messengers between cells. They help regulate everything from inflammation to cell regeneration. They play a crucial role in cell communication and regeneration and this intercellular work is crucial for various physiological processes, such as immune responses, inflammation, and tissue repair.

You’ll leave with hydrated, nourished skin and notice continued improvement in firmness and texture over the following weeks.

What Exosomes do we use at Elanamie Clinic?

We use Purasomes by DermaFocus.

  • 200mg of 20 growth factors

  • 20 billion exosomes

  • 25mg of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (1100-1400kDA)

  • 25mg of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (80-100kDA)

  • 8 vitamins

  • 7 peptides

How does it work (Science bit)?

These vesicles, especially those derived from stem cells, appear to carry pro-healing, anti-inflammatory and tissue-supportive instructions. The idea is that, by introducing them to the skin, usually in a topical format post-procedure, they can enhance the healing cascade and optimise outcomes.

This allows us to treat a range of skin concerns, from aging and pigmentation to scarring and inflammation.

  1. Anti-Aging Benefits:

As we age, our skin’s ability to repair and regenerate diminishes, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of elasticity. Exosomes can counteract these effects by stimulating collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture, and promoting a more youthful appearance.

  2. Scar Reduction and Healing:

Exosomes modulate the inflammatory response and promote healthy tissue regeneration, and, as a result, they can help reduce the appearance of scars and accelerate wound healing. This is particularly beneficial for patients recovering from surgical procedures or those with acne scars.

  3. Pigmentation and Brightening:

Uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation are common aesthetic concerns. Exosomes can help regulate melanin production, leading to a more even complexion and reduced appearance of dark spots. This is achieved by targeting the pathways involved in melanin synthesis and distribution.

Exosomes and Microneedling

We administer Exosomes through microneedling, a minimally invasive procedure that enhances the absorption of exosomes into the deeper layers of the skin.

Microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin or scalp, triggering your body’s healing response and boosting collagen or follicle activity. Applying exosomes immediately after microneedling allows these regenerative messengers to absorb more effectively, delivering faster, stronger, and more targeted results.

The procedure is takes less than an hour, and requires minimal downtime (12-24 hours). Patients may experience slight redness or swelling immediately after the treatment, but these effects usually subside within a few days.

The results can be seen in a few weeks as the skin undergoes regeneration. Patients will notice smoother, firmer skin and general reduced signs of aging.

Before & After Photos

Is the treatment safe?

Most exosomes used in facial aesthetics in North America and South East Asia are derived from human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). In the UK and Europe, however, these are banned so most sources are plant or animal derived.

The use of exosomes in medicine is backed by a growing body of scientific research. Studies have demonstrated their ability to enhance tissue repair, modulate immune responses, and influence cell behavior, providing a strong foundation for their use in aesthetic applications.

Am I a candidate for Exosomes Therapy?

Exosome therapy is suitable for anyone looking to address signs of ageing, sun damage, or overall skin dullness. It’s especially beneficial for those seeking a non-invasive yet highly effective solution for rejuvenation. It can also be an ideal complement to other aesthetic procedures, enhancing and prolonging their results.

The customization of exosome therapies based on individual patient needs and skin types allows us to offer personalised aesthetic medicine treatments. This allows us to tailor treatments more precisely, achieving optimal results for each patient.

What can I expect to see after treatment?

  • Mild redness or sensitivity for 24–48 hours

  • Little to no discomfort

  • Avoid makeup or washing treated areas for 24 hours

How do Exosomes compare to PRP?

While both therapies promote regeneration, Exosome Therapy is considered more potent because exosomes contain a higher concentration of growth factors, anti-inflammatory molecules, and signalling proteins that enhance tissue repair and healing.

How is it made?

Can i combine it with other treatments
