What changes
The face has its own fat pads, which give the cheeks, temples and jawline their shape. When weight comes off, these shrink along with everything else. Skin doesn't always tighten at the same rate, particularly after 40, when collagen production has already slowed.
The result can be hollowing at the temples and under the eyes, flatter cheeks, deeper folds around the mouth, and looser skin along the jaw and neck. On the body, the upper arms, abdomen and inner thighs are the usual areas.
This has picked up a popular nickname tied to one medicine, but it isn't specific to any medicine. It follows significant weight loss by any route. Medication has simply made faster weight loss more common.
