Anti Wrinkle Injections After Care                                    Dermal Filler After Care

Anti Wrinkle After Care

Anti Wrinkle treatment is a non-invasive procedure that can reduce or eliminate facial lines and wrinkles. As with any cosmetic procedure, Anti Wrinkle treatment requires after care. In order to achieve the best results possible, patients should follow Dr. Kelleher's post-treatment instructions carefully. This page presents information on Anti Wrinkle treatment after care and discusses possible side-effects such as pain, bruising, and swelling from injections.

Pain after Treatment

Most patients do not report feeling pain after undergoing Anti Wrinkle treatment. Dr. Kelleher injects Anti Wrinkle drugs into the muscles located underneath the skin. Patients often cannot feel the injection, or they compare it to a minor insect bite. She will be careful to target specific muscle groups so that only the necessary muscles receive treatment. When the injections have been administered, after care instructions will be provided by Dr. Kelleher.

Will there be Bruising and Swelling?

Some small red dots may be visible on the skin after treatment, as well as some minor bruising. However, both the red dots and bruising from treatment will fade after a few hours. It is important that you follow Dr. Kelleher’s instructions for after care to help ensure that you achieve optimal results. Some patients find it helps to apply a lightweight cold compress to the treated area for a few minutes after the procedure. The appearance of any bruising or swelling can also be minimized with the help of makeup.

BtxA Treatment After-Care Instructions

When treatment after care instructions are properly followed, recovery from the procedure is usually quick. Immediately after administering the injections, Dr. Kelleher may have you perform some facial exercises. By observing your facial movements, she will be able to determine your treatment results and whether the proper muscles were targeted.

While after care usually does not require any downtime and normal activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure, patients are advised to wait 24 hours before taking part in any strenuous activity. Dr. Kelleher will advise you to avoid lying down for four to five hours following the treatment and to avoid massaging the treated area.

Be sure to ask Dr. Kelleher about any recommendations she may have regarding changes in your daily skin regimen or the use of other medicines and drugs in conjunction with your treatment.

Dermal Filler After Care

One of the advantages of dermal fillers is that you may return to most of your normal activities shortly after treatment.  To download LK Aesthetics After Care instructions click here. These will also be emailed to you after treatment.

If you experience any bruising or swelling after a dermal filler treatment, you should avoid alcohol consumption, discontinuing the use of vitamin E, Aspirin, herbal supplements such as St. John’s Wart, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and naproxen until your swelling subsides.  Following this advice will usually hasten recovery.  If you need to take a pain medication, acetaminophen, or acetaminophen-containing products are not known to increase bruising.

Patients should avoid strenuous exercise a day or two after treatment (and perhaps until any swelling subsides), as this increases the heart rate and quickens blood-flow, which can prolong swelling.  Also, it is advisable to avoid excessive exposure to the sun and elements until swelling has subsided.

Makeup may usually be worn immediately post treatment.

Dr. Kelleher recommends an herbal supplement like Arnica after treatment to help hasten recovery from any bruising or swelling.

With advanced dermal fillers, such as Juvederm® Ultra, Juvederm® Ultra Plus, Radiesse®, Perlane® and Restylane®, it is recommended that you do not rub the treated area with any force for a few days.  However, with Sculptra®, it is suggested that you massage the treated area with a fair amount of pressure periodically for a few days.  Sculptra®will occasionally form (mostly invisible) lumps around the treated area if not massaged immediately and periodically for a few days.  Some medical practitioners recommend a 5 - 5 - 5 regimen, massaging the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days.

If you don’t already have a daily routine of using high grade skin care products, it is advisable that you begin so, after treatment.  High grade or medical grade products can help prolong your results.  Ask Dr. Kelleher if you require more information on medical grade skin care products.
